SiteGPT vs Intercom: Flat Rate vs $0.99 Fin Outcomes

Intercom charges per seat plus $0.99 per Fin outcome. SiteGPT charges a flat monthly rate per message. This works the math at real volume, with figures verified from Intercom's pricing page in July 2026.

SiteGPT vs Intercom

SiteGPTBest AI chatbot for customer service

Intercom and SiteGPT both put an AI agent in front of your customers, then price it on opposite principles. Intercom charges $0.99 when Fin resolves a conversation and nothing when it fails. SiteGPT charges a flat monthly rate for a stated number of messages regardless of outcome. One model protects you from paying for bad answers. The other protects you from a bill you cannot predict.

iShort answer

Intercom is a platform: $29 to $132 per seat per month on annual billing, plus $0.99 per Fin outcome, plus pay-as-you-go SMS, WhatsApp, and phone. SiteGPT is an answering layer at $39, $79, or $259 a month on annual billing for 4,000, 10,000, or 40,000 messages. The break-even against Fin standalone is about 39 resolved conversations a month versus SiteGPT Starter and about 80 versus Growth. At 2,000 conversations a month with half resolved by AI, Fin is $990 a month and SiteGPT Growth is $79. Intercom wins on suite depth, agent tooling, channel coverage, and 3,890 G2 reviews against 12. Note that SiteGPT's Intercom chat integration is listed as coming soon, not live.

Two meters, one question

Work out which number you can afford to be wrong about.

1

Fin: $0.99 per outcome

Billed once per resolved conversation. Failures cost nothing, so Intercom carries the quality risk, and your monthly total moves with demand.

2

SiteGPT: flat per message

$39, $79, or $259 a month on annual billing for 4,000, 10,000, or 40,000 messages. Every reply counts, and the total is known in advance.

3

The crossover

About 39 resolved conversations a month against SiteGPT Starter, about 80 against Growth. Below that Fin is cheaper; above it the flat plan is.

4

The seat line

Fin on Intercom's platform adds $29-$132 per Full seat per month. Fin on an existing helpdesk needs no seats.

$0.99

per Fin outcome, charged once per resolved conversation no matter how many questions Fin answers inside it, and not charged at all when Fin fails to resolve. Fin is included on every Intercom plan and also runs standalone on an existing helpdesk with no seats required.

What Intercom costs in 2026

Intercom's pricing has two components, which its own FAQ states plainly: seats, paid per teammate by plan, and usage, paid for what you consume. All figures below were read from Intercom's pricing page on 26 July 2026 by toggling the billing switch.

PlanAnnual (per seat/mo)Monthly (per seat/mo)Notable inclusions
Essential$29$39Fin, Messenger, shared inbox and ticketing, pre-built reports, public help center
Advanced$85$99Multiple team inboxes, workflow builder, round robin, 20 free Lite seats
Expert$132$139SSO and identity management, HIPAA support, SLAs, multibrand, 50 free Lite seats
Fin standalone$0.99 per outcome$0.99 per outcomeRuns on your existing helpdesk including Salesforce, no seats required

Fin AI Agent is included on all three plans and billed at $0.99 per outcome on top of seats. The add-ons are Pro at $99 a month covering analysis of 1,000 conversations, Copilot at $29 per agent per month with a free allowance of 10 Copilot conversations per agent per month, and Proactive Support Plus at $99 a month including 500 messages sent. Email campaigns, SMS, WhatsApp, and phone are pay-as-you-go on top.

Two details are easy to misread. The free Lite seats are not free agent seats: Intercom documents that only Full paid seats can interact with customers or send messages, while Lite seats are limited to internal collaboration. And early-stage startups should check the Early Stage Program, which advertises 93% off and claims more than 12,000 participating startups, because it changes this arithmetic substantially.

Disclosure: SiteGPT publishes this page. Every Intercom figure is sourced to Intercom's own pricing page and linked, and the sections where Intercom wins are stated as plainly as the sections where it loses.

How the two meters differ

A Fin outcome is a resolved conversation. A SiteGPT message is a single reply. These are not convertible without an assumption, and any comparison that quietly skips the conversion is rigged.

Intercom charges once per conversation Fin resolves, however many questions it answers inside that conversation. Conversations Fin does not resolve are not billed at all. That is a real and unusual concession: Intercom absorbs the cost when its AI underperforms.

SiteGPT counts every reply the bot sends. A conversation that takes four exchanges consumes four of the plan's messages whether it ends in a resolution, an escalation, or the customer closing the tab.

So the honest conversion needs two inputs: how many messages a typical conversation takes, and what share of conversations the AI actually resolves. This page uses four messages per conversation and a 50% AI resolution rate. The 50% figure is not invented for convenience: Intercom's own pricing page quotes Robin's Director of Technical Support saying they see a 50% resolution rate with Fin.

The pricing math at 2,000 conversations

Scenario: 2,000 customer conversations a month, half resolved by the AI, four messages per conversation, five people on the support team, annual billing throughout.

Intercom + Fin, 5 seats$16,980Fin standalone$11,880SiteGPT Growth$948

$10,932 a year less than Fin standalone at this volume

Fin standalone bills 1,000 resolved conversations a month at $0.99, which is $990 a month or $11,880 a year with no seat cost. SiteGPT Growth is $79 a month or $948 a year and covers 10,000 messages, enough for all 2,000 conversations at four messages each with 2,000 messages spare, plus 4 seats and 2 chatbots. The comparison covers the AI answering layer only; Intercom's seats also buy an inbox and ticketing system that SiteGPT does not provide.

The size of that gap is a function of volume, and it inverts at low volume. The next section says where.

The break-even point

Because Fin's cost is purely linear and SiteGPT's is purely fixed, the crossover is simple arithmetic on annual rates:

SiteGPT planMonthly rate (annual billing)Fin outcomes for the same moneyMessage allowance
Starter$3939 resolved conversations4,000
Growth$7979 resolved conversations10,000
Scale$259261 resolved conversations40,000

Below roughly 40 resolved conversations a month, Fin standalone is the cheaper product, and it is cheaper than anything SiteGPT sells. A team resolving 20 conversations a month with AI pays Fin $19.80 and pays SiteGPT $39, with no seats required on the Fin side. That is a genuine win and it should decide the question for very low-volume sites.

Above that line the flat plan pulls away fast, subject to one condition: your total message volume has to fit the plan. At four messages per conversation, Starter's 4,000 messages covers about 1,000 conversations a month and Growth's 10,000 covers about 2,500. Extra volume is $39 a month per additional 5,000 messages.

Content sources and freshness

This is the clearest functional gap, and it favors SiteGPT.

SiteGPT documents 12 or more source types: websites, sitemaps, YouTube videos, playlists and channels, GitHub, raw text, file uploads covering CSV, TXT, PDF, DOCX, PPTX and MD, Google Drive, Notion, Dropbox, OneDrive, SharePoint, Box, and help centers including Intercom, Zendesk, Freshdesk, Confluence, and Gitbook. Volume runs 1,000 pages on Starter, 10,000 on Growth, and 50,000 on Scale, where a page is roughly 2,500 cleaned characters.

Auto-refresh re-crawls those sources on a schedule: monthly on Growth, weekly with a daily auto-scan on Scale, and daily on Enterprise. For teams whose documentation changes often, that is the difference between an agent that stays accurate and one that quietly goes stale.

Fin is built around the content you keep in Intercom, primarily help center articles plus connected sources, which is coherent if Intercom is already your system of record and limiting if your knowledge lives in Google Drive, Notion, or a code repository.

SiteGPT also documents 95 or more languages with per-bot control.

Integration status: read this before switching

One point of precision, because getting it wrong would cost you a deployment plan.

An Intercom help center is a supported SiteGPT content source. If your articles live in Intercom, SiteGPT can train on them today, and that is the path most teams evaluating this actually need.

The Intercom chat-channel integration is listed as coming soon, not live. SiteGPT's live chat integrations are Slack, Zendesk, Crisp, Messenger, Google Chat, Freshchat, and Zoho SalesIQ. WhatsApp and HubSpot are also on the coming-soon list. So the "keep your inbox, swap the AI" pattern that works cleanly with Zendesk does not yet work with Intercom's inbox. Treat SiteGPT as an alternative to Intercom's AI rather than a layer inside it, and check the integrations page for current status before committing.

Teams that specifically want to keep an existing inbox and change only the AI will find the working version of that pattern in SiteGPT vs Zendesk.

Where Intercom wins

Pros

  • Outcome pricing genuinely transfers quality risk: a failed Fin answer is not billed.
  • A complete platform, not a layer: shared inbox, ticketing, Messenger, help center, workflow automation, round robin assignment.
  • Fin runs on an existing helpdesk including Salesforce, with no seats required.
  • Fin takes action on external systems and hands off into your preferred inbox.
  • Copilot gives agents an in-inbox AI assistant, plus AI auto-translation.
  • Proactive support: posts, checklists, product tours, surveys, and campaign series.
  • Channel breadth: email campaigns, SMS, WhatsApp, and phone as pay-as-you-go.
  • 3,890 G2 reviews at 4.5/5, an evidence base SiteGPT cannot match.
  • 93% off for early-stage startups through the Early Stage Program.

Cons

  • Two variable lines, seats and outcomes, so next quarter's bill is an estimate.
  • Full seats are required for anyone customer-facing; free Lite seats are internal only.
  • HIPAA support, SSO, and SLAs are gated to Expert at $132 per seat per month.
  • Content model centres on Intercom's own help center rather than external sources.
  • G2's summary of common criticisms includes missing features, AI limitations, and cost.

Best forTeams that want one vendor to own the whole service operation, and whose AI volume is either low enough that outcome pricing is cheap or valuable enough that a variable bill is acceptable.

Use-case verdicts

For high answer volume, choose SiteGPT. Above roughly 80 resolved conversations a month the flat plan is cheaper, and the gap widens linearly. At 1,000 resolutions a month it is $948 a year against $11,880.

For very low volume, choose Fin standalone. Under about 40 resolved conversations a month, $0.99 per outcome with no seat requirement beats every SiteGPT plan.

For one vendor owning the whole operation, choose Intercom. Inbox, ticketing, workflows, proactive messaging, Copilot, and phone are a real product surface that SiteGPT does not attempt.

For a fixed number in the budget, choose SiteGPT. Two variable lines cannot be forecast; a message allowance can.

For knowledge spread outside your helpdesk, choose SiteGPT. Google Drive, Notion, GitHub, YouTube, and multiple help center platforms are ingested natively and refreshed on a schedule.

For keeping your existing inbox and changing only the AI, check the integration first. That pattern works today with Zendesk, Crisp, Slack, and others. With Intercom's inbox it does not, because that integration is still coming soon.

Frequently asked questions

Pricing

How much does Intercom cost in 2026? Intercom charges per seat plus usage. On annual billing the seat rates are $29 per seat per month on Essential, $85 on Advanced, and $132 on Expert. On monthly billing they are $39, $99, and $139. Fin AI Agent is included on every plan and billed separately at $0.99 per Fin outcome. Add-ons are Pro at $99 a month, Copilot at $29 per agent per month, and Proactive Support Plus at $99 a month.

How does Fin's $0.99 per outcome pricing work? You pay $0.99 each time Fin resolves a customer conversation, and you are charged once per conversation even if Fin answers several questions inside it. Conversations Fin fails to resolve are not billed, which means Intercom carries the cost of a failed answer rather than you. Fin can also run on an existing helpdesk, including Salesforce, at $0.99 per outcome with no seats required.

Which is cheaper, SiteGPT or Intercom? SiteGPT above roughly 80 resolved conversations a month, and Fin below it. Fin standalone at $0.99 per outcome costs the same as SiteGPT Growth's $79 monthly annual rate at about 80 resolutions, and the same as SiteGPT Starter's $39 rate at about 39 resolutions. At 2,000 conversations a month with half resolved by AI, Fin standalone is $990 a month and SiteGPT Growth is $79 a month.

What is the break-even point between Fin and SiteGPT? About 39 resolutions a month against SiteGPT Starter and about 80 against SiteGPT Growth, on annual billing. Starter is $39 a month, which buys 39 Fin outcomes at $0.99. Growth is $79 a month, which buys 79 outcomes. Above those volumes the flat plan is cheaper, provided your total message volume fits the plan's 4,000 or 10,000 message allowance.

Does Intercom include free seats? Yes, but only Lite seats, and only on the higher plans. Advanced includes 20 free Lite seats and Expert includes 50. Lite seats are limited to internal collaboration; only Full paid seats can interact with customers, send messages, or use outbound content. Budget for Full seats at the published $29, $85, or $132 annual rates.

Which pricing model is less risky? They shift risk in opposite directions. Fin's outcome pricing means a failed answer costs you nothing, so Intercom absorbs the cost of poor performance, which is genuinely favorable and rare. Flat message pricing means every reply counts whether or not it resolves anything, but the total is known before the month starts. Outcome pricing protects against quality risk; flat pricing protects against budget risk.

Capabilities

Does SiteGPT integrate with Intercom? Partly, and the distinction matters. An Intercom help center is a supported SiteGPT content source, so SiteGPT can train on help center articles you already maintain in Intercom. The Intercom chat-channel integration is listed as coming soon and should not be treated as live. Today SiteGPT's live chat integrations are Slack, Zendesk, Crisp, Messenger, Google Chat, Freshchat, and Zoho SalesIQ.

Which platform can train on more content? SiteGPT. It documents 12 or more source types including websites, sitemaps, YouTube, GitHub, raw text, file uploads, Google Drive, Notion, Dropbox, OneDrive, SharePoint, Box, and help centers including Intercom, Zendesk, Freshdesk, Confluence, and Gitbook, with 1,000 to 50,000 pages by plan and scheduled auto-refresh. Fin is built primarily around your Intercom help center content and connected sources.

How does human escalation compare? Intercom's is tighter because the inbox is part of the product: Fin hands off into Intercom's own shared inbox or a preferred inbox on an existing helpdesk, with agent tooling and Copilot alongside. SiteGPT escalates on demand when a customer asks for a person, then notifies the team by email, webhook, Zapier or Slack, or the dashboard, with the transcript and captured contact details, on all tiers.

Fit

When is Intercom the better choice? When you want one platform rather than a layer. Intercom bundles a shared inbox and ticketing system, Messenger, help center, workflow automation, round robin assignment, Copilot for agents, proactive messaging, and pay-as-you-go SMS, WhatsApp, and phone channels. Fin also takes action on external systems and hands off into your preferred inbox. Intercom's Fin listing also carries 3,890 G2 reviews against SiteGPT's 12.

Which is better for a small team on a tight budget? It depends on volume, not team size. Under about 40 resolved conversations a month, Fin standalone on an existing helpdesk at $0.99 per outcome with no seats required is the cheapest option available from either vendor. Above that, SiteGPT Starter at $39 a month for 4,000 messages costs less. Early-stage startups should also check Intercom's Early Stage Program, which advertises 93% off.

Which platform is better for regulated industries? Both gate compliance to their top tier. Intercom lists HIPAA support, SSO and identity management, and SLAs on the Expert plan at $132 per seat per month on annual billing. SiteGPT makes a signed HIPAA BAA and a signed DPA available on Enterprise only, with HIPAA not included on Starter, Growth, or Scale.

What are the third-party ratings for each? Intercom's product is listed on G2 as Fin, holding 4.5 out of 5 from 3,890 reviews. SiteGPT holds 4.8 out of 5 from 12 reviews. The scores are close and the evidence bases are not comparable. G2's summary of Fin's most common criticisms includes missing features, AI limitations, and cost. Figures verified July 2026.
