Getting started with SiteGPT

SiteGPT lets you build an AI chatbot trained on your own content, so it answers customer questions in your brand’s voice, around the clock. It uses retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) over the material you already have, which is why it can be live in minutes with no code. Here is how to launch your first one.

Launch your first chatbot in 4 steps

From a blank account to a chat widget live on your site.

1

Create your chatbot

Sign up, start a new chatbot, and give it a name.

2

Train it on your content

Add a website URL, help center, or files so it answers from real content.

3

Customize and test

Set the greeting, persona, and theme, then try real questions.

4

Embed it on your site

Paste the snippet or install the WordPress plugin.

1. Create your chatbot

Sign in and create a new chatbot. Give it a name and pick the model that fits your use case; you can change both later. Every plan comes with a 7-day free trial, so you can build and test the full experience before choosing a paid plan.

2. Train it on your content

Add a website URL to crawl your pages automatically, or bring in a sitemap, help center, files, YouTube, GitHub, or cloud storage like Google Drive and Notion. SiteGPT trains on 12+ sources and indexes everything, so the chatbot answers from your knowledge base instead of guessing. Auto-sync keeps that content fresh as your product changes.

3. Customize and test

Set the greeting, colors, logo, and language to match your brand. Use the Persona and Custom Instructions fields to shape how the chatbot replies, then ask a few real questions in the preview to confirm the answers look right. Anything it cannot answer confidently is a signal to add content and retrain.

Before you embed vs after

A quick check that your chatbot is ready for real visitors.

Not ready yet

  • Answers are vague or off-brand
  • Common questions get a fallback message
  • Greeting and theme are still default

Ready to embed

  • Answers cite your real content accurately
  • Top questions resolve on the first try
  • Branding and persona match your site

4. Embed it on your site

Copy the embed snippet and drop it into your site to add the chat widget, or install the WordPress plugin. The widget matches the branding you set, so it looks native out of the box. That is it, your AI assistant is live and ready to help visitors, and it can escalate to a human whenever a customer asks.
